Mississauga Beast hold Third Annual Charity Drive for The Shoebox Project

On December 3, the Mississauga Beast Hockey Club got into the spirit of giving. Also known as Giving Tuesday, the Beast held their third annual charity drive in support of The Shoebox Project (Mississauga Chapter).

The Beast organization shared the word with teams, parents, and family members to encourage them to bring a shoebox with essentials for local women in need.

The Shoebox Project strives to build a compassionate and connected community through volunteer-driven gift giving that benefits women impacted by homelessness.

“This is the first year I’ve been able to participate in this amazing endeavour run by the Beast,” a Mississauga Beast parent shared. “For me, hockey has always been a place of community, where families come together and really unite. This season I am so proud of all the families, moms, and quite frankly the lesson we are teaching these young children about giving back to their community.”

2024 Mississauga Beast Charity Drive - Shoebox ProjectThe Shoebox Project for Women is a charity that supports women experiencing or at-risk-of homelessness, and that celebrates diversity, builds awareness, challenges stigmas, and promotes equity.

On behalf of the Beast, Carol Filippone has led this initiative for the last three years: “This was an easy charity for us to support because it speaks to the ladies and the young girls in our community that are experiencing homelessness and need a little extra tender, love, and care.”
